In March 2019, the IGas Community Fund awarded £50,000 worth of grants to support 29 projects in towns and villages close the company’s operations in the East Midlands, South and North West. This takes the total awarded to more than £1 million.

Projects that have benefited range from a community mural project in the East Midlands, to an outdoor eco classroom for a village primary school in the South.

Money has also been allocated to several rural villages for improvements to community buildings, recreation areas and sports facilities; to special schools and centres for disabled youngsters; and to a charity supporting the homeless.

The panel gave priority to projects located closest to the company’s oil and gas operations and to those where the benefits would go to the widest span of the community. It also looked for projects that would be sustainable long-term without further substantial fund-raising.
