In April 2018, the IGas Community Fund awarded close to £47,000 worth of grants to support 25 projects in towns and villages close the company’s operations in the East Midlands, South and North West. This takes the total awarded over ten years to almost £1 million.

Projects that have benefited range from a school gardening project in the East Midlands, to the provision of sports equipment for a village fitness and fun initiative in the South.

Money has also been allocated to several rural villages for the refurbishment or improvement of community buildings, play areas and sports facilities and the purchase of potentially life-saving equipment for emergency responders.

The panel gave priority to projects located closest to the company’s oil and gas operations and to those where the benefits would go to the widest span of the community. It also looked for projects that would be sustainable long-term without further substantial fund-raising.
