Projects

In March 2020, the IGas Community Fund awarded close to £50,000 worth of grants to support 24 projects in towns and villages close the company’s operations in the East Midlands and Southern England. This takes the total awarded to more than £1 million.

Grants were awarded to a variety of community projects ranging from renovation work and improvements to a popular Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) in the East Midlands, to a conservation project to stabilise a riverbank and improve biodiversity in the South.

Money has also been allocated for improvements to community buildings and recreation areas; for equipment for schools, sports clubs and centres for disabled young people; for innovative inter-generational projects; and for a pop-up Art gallery supporting people suffering mental health issues.

The panel gave priority to projects located closest to the company’s oil and gas operations and to those where the benefits would go to the widest span of the community. It also looked for projects that would be sustainable long-term without further substantial fund-raising.
